Precision, Planning & Preparation

High-quality tiling is as much about what sits behind the tiles as the tiles themselves. Correct preparation, accurate layout and skilled execution are essential to achieving a lasting finish.

Tiles can only be installed properly when walls are level, true and plumb. We take the time required to prepare all background surfaces correctly, ensuring the quality you see at the front of the tile is matched by the integrity behind it.

Background preparation is critical to the long-term performance of any tiled surface. All wet areas are prepared using appropriate tile backer boards prior to tiling. Many bathrooms fail over time due to unsuitable backgrounds — such as plasterboard — being used in moisture-prone environments.

All floors are levelled prior to tiling using latex levelling compounds. Floor tiles require full adhesive coverage; uneven substrates lead to voids, cracking and grout movement over time. We eliminate these risks at the preparation stage.

We also plan tile layouts meticulously, considering grout lines, symmetry, focal points and how tiles interact with sanitaryware, cabinetry and lighting. This level of planning ensures a refined, balanced finish that feels intentional rather than rushed.

We always recommend sourcing tiles from dedicated tile suppliers rather than DIY stores. This ensures colour-matched batches, fewer damaged tiles and the ability to resolve any issues quickly should replacements be required.
